Goris, a wonderful city in the south of Armenia, which is well-known for its caves, private houses and terraces, red roofs and hospitable locals. Goris was founded in 1870 as the center of Zangezur province of Elizavetpol province. It has received the title of a city in 1885. Goris is famous for the layout of its houses and the linear construction that gives the town a special charm. The city plan is made up of square or rectangular isolated blocks, which are sometimes compared to symmetrical chessboards.
The guest house is surrounded by breathtaking nature, which provides visitors with a feeling of the combination of wonderful nature and a comfortable environment by ensuring complete relaxation. REDROOF's garden impresses visitors with its well-cultivated and beautiful appearance, which is like paradise according to many guests' comments.
Residential private houses were mostly built with one or two floors, with large and small gates entering the yard from the street, decorated with artistic plaster typical of Goris, which is also called "barkash". The houses have open wooden porches with wooden or metal railings, semi-arched openings of bifold doors and windows, worked with hewn stone, wooden gates, sloping roofs covered with red tin. The first floors of the one or two-story dwellings were used as pantries, summer kitchens or toasters, and the rooms facing the street were either trade stalls or workshops. Stone stairs were built to climb from the yard to the wooden terrace of the second floor of the residence. The doors of the living rooms opened onto the terrace, and the kitchens faced the garden. Living in city-type residential buildings, the native of Goris continued to engage in gardening actively. All these prerequisites were kept in the basis of the construction of the REDROOF guest house.
